International Emmy Kids Award Winners Revealed

Seven programs from Australia, Denmark, the Netherlands and the U.K. scored wins at the fifth annual International Emmy Kids Awards, held for the second time at MIPTV in Cannes, in partnership with Reed MIDEM.

The winners were Hey Duggee (Studio AKA, U.K.) in the preschool category; Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer’s Llamas (Aardman Animations, U.K.) for best animation; Horrible Histories (Lion Television, U.K.) for factual; Ultras Sorte Kageshow (Baking in the Dark) from Danish Broadcasting Corporation in Denmark for non-scripted entertainment; Kasper en de Kerstengelen (Casper and the Christmas Angels) from NL Film & TV/Avrotros in the Netherlands for best series; Doodles (Ludo Studio/ABC3/Screen Australia/Screen Queensland, Australia) in the digital category; and Peter & Wendy, based on the novel Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie, (Headline Pictures/Juliette Films, U.K.) for best TV movie/miniseries.

“Nothing is more vital on television than the programming kids watch every day, and the Academy is proud that the Emmy is the preeminent awards platform for kids’ programming,” said Bruce L. Paisner, the president of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “We congratulate all the winners for their outstanding achievements and for setting the high-quality standard we all expect for our kids.”

The awards were presented by a variety of TV and digital personalities and mascots, including American actress and YouTube sensation Jenn McAllister (jennxpenn), Quebec TV star/producer Marc Labrèche (Le Coeur a Ses Raisons), German preschool character Die Maus from WDR’s The Program with The Mouse co-presenting with actress and YouTuber Joyce Ilg from WDR’s kids’ series Arman’s Secret and Miss Supranational 2016 Srinidhi Shetty from India, and British comedian Paul Taylor (#Franglais).

More than 250 international industry execs attended the event, which was held at the Martinez hotel. TV Kids was a presenting partner alongside Shaw Rocket Fund, WDR mediagroup, Ernst & Young and Junior@MIPTV.
