The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) have come together to support Quebec-made animated series targeted for children and youth in a C$3 million ($2.2 million) initiative.

The program will facilitate the prototyping of new animated series developed in French with the aim of making available funding from broadcasters, distributors and other national and international partners. Two-thirds of the program budget will be provided by the SODEC and the last third by the CMF.

Funding may cover up to 80 percent of eligible costs to a maximum of C$500,000 per project.

“We are delighted to deepen our collaboration with the SODEC,” said Valerie Creighton, president and CEO of the CMF. “Our first joint program to support the pre-development of television series based on literary adaptations is a resounding success, and I look forward to seeing what we accomplish with this new initiative, which responds to an important need in today’s animation market.”
