In celebration of this year’s Heritage Month, BBC Studios is translating seven bedtime stories on CBeebies into four African languages.

Dubbed in IsiZulu, Sesotho, Xitsonga and Afrikaans, the episodes will air on CBeebies from September 2 to 29 and will also become available on the BBC Studios Africa YouTube channel. Translated shows across all four languages will include Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Enormous Radish and more, while the “Sleepy Time” episode of Bluey will be translated to IsiZulu only.

Pierre Cloete, commercial director at BBC Studios in Africa, said, “To mark Heritage Month and celebrate the diversity of our nation, we wanted to shine a spotlight on some of our African languages with the help of our preschool channel CBeebies. As CBeebies is for little learners, translating a selection of the Sleepy Time Stories to four languages will allow our little viewers and parents to learn or develop their language skills while enjoying the shows throughout September.”
