Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs Heads to POP

SYDNEY: The animated series Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs is premiering on POP in the U.K. this September.

The animated comedy-adventure series from SLR Productions, Telegael, Super RTL, Network Nine, Top Draw Animation and ZDF Enterprises will debut on POP in the U.K. on September 5. It will air daily at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

ZDF Enterprises also sold the series to China’s JY Animation, Vietnam Content, Mediacorp in Singapore, Portugal’s Radiotelevisa o Portuguesa (RTP), SVT Sveriges Television in Sweden and CSC Media Group for Africa.

The series is based on the award-winning picture books of the same name by author/illustration duo Giles Andreae and Russell Ayto. The show follows the adventures of four kids— Flinn, Pearl, Tom and Violet—as they set sail on a pirate ship to keep the pirate dinosaurs from doing wrong across the Seven-and-a-half Seas.

“I am excited for the U.K. premiere of Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs on POP,” said Suzanne Ryan, executive producer and CEO of SLR Productions. “The popular kids’ channel is the perfect home for this piro-dino comedic adventure series as it brings to life the fantastic award-winning picture books by Giles Andreae and Russel Ayto. Having launched in Australia on Nine’s GO!, the series will soon premiere in other popular territories, confirming the global appeal of pirates, dinosaurs and good old-fashioned fun.”

“Telegael is delighted to partner once again with SLR Productions, Top Draw Animation and ZDF Enterprises to introduce Captain Flinn to children around the world,” commented Paul Cummins, executive producer and CEO of Telegael. “As well as being broadcast in so many international languages, we are especially proud that the series is being broadcast in the Irish language by TG4.”
