Germany’s Studio 100 Film, Australia’s POP Family Entertainment and Ireland’s Telegael have unveiled the voice cast for their animated comedy feature Being Betty Flood.

Evanna Lynch (Harry Potter franchise) headlines the cast as headstrong 12-year-old Betty, a girl torn between her overprotective mother and her desire to prove her magical and musical abilities. Lynch is joined by Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Richard Roxburgh (Elvis, Rake).

Additional cast members are Charlotte Friels (After the Verdict, Nitram), Ed Bryne, Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted, Death in Paradise), Neil Delamere, Semisi Cheekham (Hardball, Significant Others), Erin Choy (Hardball, News of the Wild) and Sarah Aubrey (Pieces of Her, Frayed, Happy Feet 2, Blinky Bill).

The film, based on the 13-book series The Floods by Australian author Colin Thompson, has been adapted for the screen by Harry Cripps and Cleon Prineas. It is set for delivery in fall 2023.

Being Betty Flood has already been sold to NOS Lusomondo (Portugal), Notorious (Italy), ADS (Hungary), FilmHouse (Israel) and Myndform (Iceland).

The film is an Official Treaty Co-Production between Australia and Ireland, allowing it to be marketed with full European status. Studio 100 Film is handling worldwide distribution.

Thorsten Wegener, Studio 100 Media’s director of business operations, said, “We are absolutely thrilled by this outstanding cast lineup, which will take this project into new spheres. All actors are a true match to the characters they are voicing. We are sure that this makes this film even more attractive to international buyers.”
