Animation Director Philippe Vidal Dumas Passes Away

Philippe Vidal Dumas, the French animation director known for his work on productions such as The Garfield Show and Belfort & Lupin, has passed away.

Vidal attended CFT Gobelins to pursue a career in animation, landing at Ellipse Studio at its inception in 1990, beginning as a production assistant. His directing career began in the late 1990s.

Vidal spent 35 years at Ellipse Animation. In a statement, the studio said: “His warmth, generosity, curiosity, and attentiveness leave a profound impact on his colleagues and collaborators. Ellipse Animation extends its heartfelt condolences to his partner, his son Benjamin, his family, and all those close to Philippe.”
