SEATTLE: Amazon is due to debut the animated kids’ series Thunderbirds Are Go as an Amazon Original on Prime Video in the U.S. next month.

Thunderbirds Are Go is a reboot of the classic Thunderbirds show from the 1960s. The new series, which is distributed internationally by ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE), follows the adventures of the International Rescue team. All 13 episodes of the first season will become available on April 22 on Prime Video in the U.S. for streaming and download, and will later premiere on Prime Video in the U.K., Germany and Austria. Prime members will have access to a sneak preview on April 15 with the hour-long two-part special Ring of Fire.

“We’re excited that our customers and their families will partake in a new rendition of a classic property with the Tracy brothers at the helm,” said Tara Sorensen, the head of kids’ programming at Amazon Studios. “The new series will pay tribute to the legacy of the original series while adopting a new level of action-adventure and groundbreaking mix of animation and live action.”

“We’re delighted that Thunderbirds Are Go will be blasting off in the U.S. on Amazon next month,” added Dan Gopal, the executive VP of EMEA distribution and global digital partners at ITVS GE. “This will give children and families across the country the opportunity to enjoy the full, action-packed series whenever and wherever they want.”
