GoldBee Closes First Sales for Burps, Butts and Bones

GoldBee has secured the first international broadcast sales for the factual kids’ series Burps, Butts and Bones.

The series, aimed at kids ages 5 to 9, explores the fascinating realities of the human body. ABC has licensed the exclusive free-to-air and free streaming rights in Australia, while HK Television has acquired the exclusive free-to-air and catch-up rights for Hong Kong and Macau.

Each episode features Bones, a witty CG-animated medical skeleton who hosts a digital “bodcast” called Bodies with Bones, responding to real questions sent in by real children. Meanwhile, a group of young reporters known as the B Squad heads out into the real world to investigate the episode’s topic, discovering how bodies work through experiments, expert insights and playful exploration.

Burps, Butts and Bones was created by Karen Hawes and Kim Saltarski. It is produced by Sphere Media. Andrea Griffith, VP of content and development at Sphere Media Kids and Family, is an executive producer.

GoldBee is also offering the format rights for the series. Local producers can create the live-action segments with children from their own regions while incorporating the animated Bones segments dubbed in their local language.

Burps, Butts and Bones perfectly captures the kind of comedy-driven factual storytelling that resonates with kids today,” said Christophe Goldberger, managing director of GoldBee. “We are delighted to launch the series internationally with trusted public broadcaster ABC Kids and HK Television, who share the same commitment to smart, entertaining and meaningful content for young audiences.”

Griffith added, “We’re seeing hybrid live-action and animation formats emerge as one of the most exciting directions in kids’ programming. This series is not only entertaining and informative, it also helps normalize body diversity and curiosity in a fun and positive way.”
