Xilam Animation Slates New Season of Oggy and the Cockroaches

Xilam Animation has greenlit a ninth season of the non-dialogue comedy Oggy and the Cockroaches with France Télévisions.

“For almost three decades, Oggy and the Cockroaches has endured as one of our most iconic and well-loved creations—with its positive values, hilarious escapades and familiar characters charming generations of fans around the world,” said Marc du Pontavice, founder and CEO at Xilam Animation.

The ninth season will be directed by Julien Daubas and Lucas Pinatel. First created by Jean Yves Raimbaud in 1997 and driven by author and director Olivier Jean Marie for over 20 years, the new season is slated for delivery by Q2 2028, in celebration of the franchise’s 30th anniversary.

Including its spin-off series, the franchise spans over 700 episodes. In season nine, no longer just a laid-back couch potato, Oggy takes on the day with a giant smile–Oggy’s unstoppable optimism clashes with the outrageous schemes of others.

“In today’s evolving industry landscape, strong legacy brands are more important than ever—and we’re proud to open a new chapter for Oggy alongside our long-standing partners France Télévisions, who first commissioned the series 30 years ago,” du Pontavice continued. “Season nine stays true to the heart of the series, but with a dialed-up approach—there’s sharper comedic timing, bolder twists, and a new energy that makes the classic showdown of Oggy versus the cockroaches louder and funnier than ever.”
