Iyanu Finds Australian Home on ABC

Lion Forge Entertainment has closed a multi-season distribution deal covering exclusive free-to-air television rights, free streaming rights and premiere rights for Iyanu with Australia’s ABC.

Iyanu is a dynamic superhero rooted in rich world-building, packed with action and filled with a fun sense of adventure,” said David Steward II, founder and CEO of Lion Forge. “It’s been inspiring to see audiences in the U.S., U.K. and Africa connect with the series, and we’re excited to now partner with the ABC to bring even more families into Iyanu’s epic journey.”

Season one of the series is set to debut on ABC iview on September 26 and will broadcast on ABC Entertains on weekdays at 8 a.m. beginning September 29. Season two will come in 2026.

Based on Roye Okupe’s graphic novel series Iyanu: Child of Wonder, the show draws on Nigerian culture, music and mythology to tell the story of the titular young orphan who yearns for a normal life. When a looming threat awakens divine powers not seen since the Age of Wonders, Iyanu and a group of newfound friends set out to uncover the source of the evil. In the second season, Iyanu faces a powerful new enemy as tensions continue to rise across Yorubaland.

The series features an all-African voice cast, led by Serah Johnson as Iyanu. Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Stella Damasus, Blossom Chukwujekwu and Shaffy Bello (The Black Book) also star.

Iyanu is executive produced by Steward, Stephanie Sperber, Kirsten Newlands and Matt Heath from Lion Forge Entertainment; Erica Dupuis of Impact X Capital; Ryan Haidarian of Forefront Media Group; Doug Schwalbe of Superprod; and Okupe of YouNeek Studios, who also serves as the showrunner.
