The Muppet Show Returning in February for Special Event

The Muppet Show is returning on February 4 for a special event on Disney+ and ABC in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

From 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures, the event will see The Muppets take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with Sabrina Carpenter.

Veteran Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman and Matt Vogel will perform the majority of the iconic Muppet characters in the production.

The special is directed by Alex Timbers, who also serves as an executive producer. Additional executive producers are Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Alex McAtee for Point Grey Pictures; David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter and Michael Steinbach for The Muppets Studio; Carpenter; Albertina Rizzo; Matt Vogel; and Eric Jacobson are executive producers.

The original series, created by Jim Henson, ran from 1976 to 1981 and aired in over 100 countries. It featured notable guest stars, including Elton John, Johnny Cash, Diana Ross, Debbie Harry, Gladys Knight, Liza Minelli, Paul Simon and many others. All five seasons are available to stream on Disney+.
