Sesame Street Lands on Netflix

Sesame Street’s 56th season, together with 90 hours of previous episodes, heads to Netflix later this year, with the show continuing to be available on PBS and PBS KIDS.

The new season will feature format changes, with each episode centering on one 11-minute story. Episodes will be carried day and date in the U.S. on PBS stations and PBS KIDS digital platforms. Sal Perez and Kay Wilson Stallings serve as executive producers at Sesame Workshop. Halcyon Person (Karma’s World, Dee & Friends in Oz) joins as head writer.

Netflix has exclusive worldwide premiere rights and is developing video games for both Sesame Street and Sesame Street Mecha Builders.

“This unique public-private partnership will enable us to bring our research-based curriculum to young children around the world with Netflix’s global reach, while ensuring children in communities across the U.S. continue to have free access on public television to the Sesame Street they love,” Sesame Workshop said. “We are so grateful to Netflix, PBS, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Their combined support advances our mission and ensures we can help all children—everywhere—grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.”
