Netflix Expands Preschool Program Offering

Netflix has expanded its preschool programming with two renewals and four new series orders.

Among Netflix’s new preschool series, Deepa & Anoop, from Mattel Television, centers on 7-year-old Deepa and her best friend Anoop, a color-changing elephant, who solve problems with imaginative solutions that frequently involve musical numbers.

Munjal Shroff, Lisa Goldman and Heather Kenyon (Gnomeo & Juliet) created the series, which is set to debut in 2022. Executive producers are Mattel Television’s Fred Soulie, senior VP and general manager, and Christopher Keenan, senior VP and creative and executive producer.

The new series The Creature Cases, set for a spring 2022 premiere, follows Sam Snow and Kit Casey as they solve mysteries around a world populated exclusively by animals while mixing real zoological facts with wild action. The series is produced by Silvergate Media and animated by TeamTO, with Kurt Mueller and Adam Idelson as executive producers. Gabe Pulliam is the creator and head writer.

Action Pack, created by Bill Harper, sees a group of superhero kids use their powers to take on the biggest threats in Hope Springs and fulfill their ultimate mission of bringing out the good in everything, even in villains. The series is animated by ICON Creative Studios and executive produced by Chris Hamilton (Muppet Babies, Corn & Peg). It is slated for a January 2022 release.

From Blue Zoo Animation, Big Tree City follows Major Prickles and his team as they embark on rescue missions in a world full of hot sauce volcanoes, exploding soda pop factories and biscuit dinosaur mysteries. Sam Morrison is the head writer, with Adam Shaw and Oli Hyatt executive producing. It is set for a spring 2022 premiere.

In terms of renewals, Chris Nee’s Ridley Jones and Ada Twist, Scientist are both set to return for a second season. Ridley Jones season two, already set for a November premiere, will see Ridley and her friends Peaches, Fred, Ismat, Dudley and Dante continue their nightly adventures at The Museum of Natural History.

Ada Twist, Scientist season two will continue to follow the eponymous pint-sized scientist and her friends continue to explore ways that science is part of everyday life. It will debut in 2022.
