Will Macdonald and David Granger Unveil idle Industries

Will Macdonald and David Granger, founders of the U.K. production outfit Monkey, have launched idle Industries to develop new unscripted formats, clinching a first-look pact with BBC Studios.

“idle Industries continues our unrelenting desire to create new entertainment in all its daft, wonderful and ever-evolving forms,” said the duo, whose credits include Made In Chelsea. “Working closely with major and upcoming talent on- and off-screen, we’ll always prioritize storytelling, exceptional casting, originality, humor and high production values whatever the budget, genre or form.”

Monkey was founded by Macdonald and Granger in 2000 and eventually bought by NBCUniversal.

BBC Studios will have first-look rights for new formats developed by idle Industries. “Will and David have a great history of producing top-class unscripted formats,” said Kate Ward, managing director of unscripted productions at BBC Studios. “We’re delighted to be partnering with them and look forward to seeing what imaginative new titles they deliver.”
