True Love or True Lies? Getting German Remake

ProSieben has commissioned a local version of the MTV reality format True Love or True Lies?

The agreement marks the first local treatment of the format since the original launched on MTV in 2018 and the first time ProSieben has adapted an original MTV format. Locally titled How Fake Is Your Love?, the show will be shot on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

The German series will premiere on September 7 at 8:15 p.m. and will air weekly.

The deal for the ViacomCBS format follows an option agreement with ITV Studios Germany.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with ProSieben and ITV Studios on True Love or True Lies?” said Laura Burrell, VP of international formats for ViacomCBS International Studios Distribution. “A brilliant guessing game, which questions our notion of everlasting love, we have no doubt that German audiences will become completely addicted to this first local adaptation.”
