A local adaptation of Endemol Shine Group’s factual thriller The Heist is set to air on SVT in Sweden, the first Nordic and third overall market to pick up the show.

Meter Television, part of Endemol Shine Nordics, has been commissioned by the public broadcaster to produce the latest edition of the entertainment format, which sees ordinary citizens commit a heist and attempt to evade a team of expert detectives in order to pocket a sum of cash. The adaptation will be known locally as Tjuv och polis.

The Heist was originally created by Shine TV (Hunted, The Island), part of Endemol Shine UK, and is set to return for a second season on Sky One in 2020 following a run earlier this year.

Lisa Perrin, Endemol Shine Group’s CEO of creative networks, said: “The Heist is a high-octane and high-stakes format that grips viewers from the get-go, blending a thrilling game of cat and mouse with the best bit of any crime drama—the suspect interrogation. We’re confident that Swedish viewers will delight in it as much as we do and can’t wait for Meter to work with SVT to see if our ‘thieves’ manage to pocket the cash.”
