Magnify Media has licensed format rights for Plimsoll Productions’ Rescue Dog to Super Dog, with a local version set for SAT.1 in Germany.

SAT.1, part of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, will debut the show, produced by Docma TV, this weekend under the title Project Super Dog: Helper on Four Paws. The four episodes see rescue dogs trained intensively to become helper dogs for eight people with a range of disabilities.

Magnify Media has also signed the global representation rights for the finished U.S. version of Rescue Dog to Super Dog (6×60 minutes), which was produced for Animal Planet. The format has also been optioned by Monster Entertainment for Norway, DLO for Spain and Portugal, and Endemol Shine for France. The finished U.K. show has also been sold to Nippon TV in Japan, Manoto TV in Iran, MediaWorks in New Zealand, RAI in Italy, TV2 Denmark and SAT.1 Gold Germany.

Andrea Jackson, the CEO of Magnify Media, said, “This is the show that proves dogs really are man’s best friend. It’s an excellent premise, brilliantly executed by a production company at the top of its game. I’m not surprised the international market’s fallen in love with Rescue Dog to Super Dog. It’s that rare combination of a show that has both heart and purpose. I predict there’ll be many more deals to come.”
