The Connection Lands German Deal

The quiz-show format The Connection has been remade in Germany on SAT.1, hosted by Matthias Opdenhövel.

Produced by Brot&Butter ENTERTAINMENT, the German version of the format, developed by MediaLane and launched on La 1 in Spain earlier this year, landed yesterday under the title The Connection—Wer knackt die Verbindung? It will air in prime time for seven consecutive weeks.

Distributed internationally by All Right Media, the format is also in development in France and Italy, while in the Netherlands, a new season is headed to NPO1.

MediaLane is arriving at MIPCOM with GOAL!, a prime-time entertainment format set in the world of football and powered by AI, offering up a professional contract with a leading European club.

Iris van den Ende, CEO of MediaLane Group, said, “MediaLane is making exciting strides on an international level. For the first time, we are bringing an advanced new format to MIPCOM, and the rollout of The Connection across multiple countries is very promising. We are particularly thrilled about the upcoming German launch. We also can’t wait to share more news soon about Stars on Stage, which already has options in five countries.”

Uli Zahn, CEO of Brot&Butter ENTERTAINMENT, added: “The Connection fascinated me—and our entire team—right from the very beginning. Its unique concept of uncovering the one big connection from an ever-growing set of clues sparks both excitement and curiosity and makes the format something truly special. I am deeply grateful to everyone at MediaLane for their trust and support with this successful format; to our colleagues at SAT.1 for the wonderful collaboration, and to our entire crew for their tireless passion and dedication.”

Marc Rasmus, CEO of SAT.1, added: “Quizzes are an integral part of SAT.1, and with The Connection, we are expanding our expertise in this genre with another innovative and exciting addition to our lineup.”
