Plimsoll’s Woodworking Competition Coming to the U.S.

Plimsoll Productions is set to introduce its Channel 4 competition series Handmade: Britain’s Best Woodworker to U.S. audiences under the title Handmade: Good with Wood.

Hosted by Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off, Hitmen Reloaded) in the U.K., the format challenges woodworking enthusiasts to create beautiful and ambitious builds. Each episode features two competitive rounds centering around a “Big Build.”

Contestants are challenged to erect grand, imaginative wooden structures and objects, showcasing their designs, techniques and artistry to a panel of judges. Throughout the competition, 11 woodworking competitors are whittled down to one.

Handmade is produced by Plimsoll Productions. Grant Mansfield and Karen Plumb are executive producers.

Karen Plumb, executive producer and head of factual entertainment for Plimsoll, said: “We’re excited to be bringing this new competitive format and ratings hit to the U.S. Its wild ambition, sense of scale and dedication to celebrating craft and natural beauty feel the perfect fit for the American market.”
