Newen Connect has confirmed sales for the factual-entertainment format A Real Job: Nurses and Burger Quiz.

A Real Job: Nurses, originally created and produced by De Mensen for VTM in Belgium, has been picked up by Germany’s SAT.1. Locally titled Die Herzblut-Aufgabe—Promis in der Pflege, the adaptation is produced by Rainer Laux Productions in collaboration with Endemol Shine Germany and will premiere on SAT.1 on October 18.

The format follows six celebrities who are put to work in a hospital, getting a first-hand taste of the challenging work and life of hospital nurses. Die Herzblut-Aufgabe—Promis in der Pflege will feature actor and TV host Wayne Carpendale; actress, reality star and TV host Jenny Elvers; singer Patrick Lindner; model Lilly Becker; comedian Faisal Kawusi; and choreographer, model and Strictly Come Dancing jury member Jorge González.

Newen Connect handles the global distribution of De Mensen formats.

SAT.1 General Manager Daniel Rosemann said: “A lot has been said and reported about nursing in recent months. In Die Herzblut-Aufgabe, prominent nursing trainees work with their mentors to show us what this profession is all about. There were many emotional moments during the filming: Jenny Elvers attended two births, Patrick Lindner held people’s hands on the way to their medical operations. Everyone took this special internship very seriously.”

Rainer Laux, managing director of Rainer Laux Productions (part of the Banijay Group), said: “These last one and a half years, in particular, have shown how important nursing is. With this great project, I’m happy to be bringing a show to the German TV market that really honors this profession and hopefully also helps inspire people to take up this exciting and challenging job.”

Leona Connell, executive VP of distribution at Newen Connect, said: “SAT.1 and Endemol Shine Germany are the ideal partners to bring the format of A Real Job: Nurses to Germany and the timing of this launch is perfect. We look forward to taking the brand out to other territories.”

TF1 Studio, a subsidiary of Newen Connect, has secured the sale of the format Burger Quiz into French-speaking territories in Africa. The African adaptation will be presented by local celebrities Valéry Ndongo, Maréshal Zongo and Omar Defunzu.

Burger Quiz launched in Africa on CANAL+ POP on October 1.

Karine Lejeune, VP of sales at TF1 Studio, said: “TF1 Studio is proud to hold the Burger Quiz world rights. We are happy to bring the format to life beyond borders. The show, broadcasted on TMC, has become the most-watched entertainment in the history of French DTT. We wish the same success to this program.”
