ITV has commissioned a U.K. version of the Belgian game-show format 99 to Beat.

Initial (part of Banijay UK) will produce the 8×60-minute series, with a broadcast date yet to be confirmed. Originally developed by VRT and De Chinezen, 99 to Beat has already achieved success in seven countries, including multiple seasons in the Netherlands (Talpa Network/SBS6), Poland (Warner Bros. Discovery) and a recent commission for a fifth season by Sat.1 in Germany.

Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment commissioning ITV, said: “99 to Beat brings 100 people together to set upon this extraordinary game where there is really only one rule: Don’t come last. As the contestants compete, they also form tight bonds and, as they get to know each other, we get to see who plays well, who buckles under the pressure and who has lasting power.”

Simone de Pruyssenaere de la Woestyne, director of sales and acquisitions at Primitives, commented: “We are really excited about 99 to Beat coming to the U.K. audience. Its highly entertaining format grounded in a simple, yet compelling premise is its biggest asset. We can’t wait to see this new version and are convinced it will captivate and entertain viewers across the U.K.”
