BBC Studios’ SAFTA-winning series Come Dine with Me South Africa has been renewed for a sixth season that will bow in 2020.

Produced by the BBC production partner Rapid Blue, the 12 brand-new episodes will once again be narrated by Dave Lamb. They are set to premiere on Come Dine with Me South Africa’s new home, BBC Lifestyle, which is on the hunt for South Africa’s most entertaining personalities to show how best to host a winning dinner party.

In Come Dine with Me South Africa, four strangers are treated to four dinner parties at each other’s homes across four evenings. After each dinner party, the guests score their host on their taxi ride home. After the fourth night, the scores are tallied up and someone is crowned the ultimate host and takes home a cash prize.

Distributed internationally by ITV Studios Global Entertainment, Come Dine with Me is now produced in 43 territories including Germany, France and Australia.

Katie Benbow, director of programming for EMEA at BBC Studios, said: “Season five of Come Dine with Me South Africa pulled in our biggest ratings to date across all of our portfolio of channels and I personally loved being part of the casting process to bring such fantastic characters to the screen. The love and appetite for the show is so strong, so it was an obvious decision to partner with Rapid Blue and Dave Lamb to bring it back for a sixth season. We have already showcased some absolute gems in previous seasons, but we know that there are even funnier, even wilder, even more eccentric South Africans out there and so we hope to see you all sign up and battle it out to be our next set of ultimate dinner party hosts. I cannot wait!”

Kee-Leen Irvine, executive producer of Come Dine with Me South Africa at Rapid Blue, said: “The fact that the show is such a ratings hit speaks to the quality of its casting and execution by the Rapid Blue team, who are really under the skin of South Africa and her fabulous people. We enjoy producing Come Dine with Me as much as our viewers enjoy watching it and are so looking forward to another season of entertaining, dining and outrageous characters!”
