BBC One has commissioned Hat Trick Productions to produce the Saturday night quiz show The Time It Takes.

Hosted by comedian Joe Lycett, the program will air on BBC One later this year. The 8×40-minute tea-time show will see contestants attempt to respond to as many questions as they can during the time it takes the yet-to-be-cast referee and even celebrities to complete a chosen task or special assignment. Tasks include unwrapping every candy in a Wether’s Original family pack and completing a Rubik’s cube underwater. The ultimate prize is a dream holiday.

Jimmy Mulville, the managing director of Hat Trick Productions, said, “The Time It Takes is a brilliant format that is brought to life by the hugely talented Joe Lycett. It’s both exciting and funny—just what you want at tea-time on Saturdays.”

Series producer Meriel Beale added, “The Time It Takes is very funny and incredibly silly and happily so is Joe Lycett. I’m very excited to be working with such a star and I’ve no doubt his warm, generous wit will be lapped up by BBC One viewers.”

Lycett, commented, “Never before has so much relied on someone knowing how long a kettle takes to boil. The Time It Takes is one of the most brilliantly daft shows I’ve ever been involved in—and that’s saying something.”
