Happy Valley, True Detective Score BAFTA TV Wins

LONDON: The BAFTA TV Awards, which took place last night, saw Happy Valley scoring the win for drama series, while True Detective won the prize for international.

Happy Valley beat out Line of Duty, The Missing and Peaky Blinders in the drama category. Georgina Campbell won for lead actress for Murdered by My Boyfriend, while Jason Watkins of The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies won for lead actor. The series Marvellous took home the BAFTA for best single drama. Marvellous's Gemma Jones was the winner for supporting actress. The supporting actor nod went to Stephen Rea of The Honourable Woman.

The best soap/continuing drama winner was Coronation Street. The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies came out on top in the miniseries category.

Detectorists was the winner in the category of situation comedy. In the comedy performance arena, Jessica Hynes was honored for W1A and Matt Berry for Toast of London. Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway were honored for best entertainment performance, while the show itself won for best entertainment program.

In the category of specialist factual, Grayson Perry: Who Are You? took home that BAFTA honor. The Graham Norton Show received the award for best comedy and comedy entertainment program. The winner for reality/constructed factual was The Island with Bear Grylls. The factual series Life and Death Row also received an award last night.

The Radio Times Audience Award (voted for by members of the public) went to Sherlock. True Detective went up against The Good Wife, House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black in the international category and took the win.
