Sky Deutschland Launches OTT Service

UNTERFÖHRING: Sky Deutschland has unveiled a standalone online TV service, Sky Online, which makes it possible to access a range of premium content directly through the Internet.

Sky Online allows users without a traditional Sky subscription to register for a separate monthly contract to be able to enjoy the latest series, blockbuster movies and exclusive live sports on the Internet, iPad and iPhone. The service will be expanded to include the Sky Online TV Box, Xbox One, LG and Samsung Smart TVs as well as select Android tablets and smartphones in the next few months, with even more devices and platforms to follow.

There are two different programming packages: the Sky Starter package and the Sky Film Package. Customers with either of these can add Sky Supersport Tagesticket whenever they'd like.

As part of a strategic partnership with Roku, Sky has also developed its own streaming box, which upgrades every TV into a Smart TV. Customers will be able to instantly stream the complete Sky Online and Snap programming catalogue to their television. In addition to both Sky Online services, customers will have access to even more apps through the Roku streaming platform. The Sky Online TV Box will be available in the coming months.
