CANNES: The new period drama Breathless, from the team behind Mr Selfridge, is set in 1961.

The series, starring Jack Davenport (Pirates of the Caribbean), centers on a group of medical professionals working at a London hospital. “It’s set during a fascinating period, just before the sexual revolution, and features strong characters and gripping story lines,” says Tobi de Graaff, the director of global television distribution for ITV Studios Global Entertainment. “Breathless is a stylish, touching and beautifully shot period character drama, and I think it will resonate with viewers around the world.” The company will also be bringing to market Stepping Out, a prime-time dance competition featuring celebrities, and Tricked, which looks on as a magician deceives unsuspecting individuals on hidden camera.
