HISTORY UK Orders New Docudrama

EDINBURGH: HISTORY UK has commissioned the one-off docudrama Bannockburn (working title), produced by Sky Vision and Canada’s Arcadia Content.

The two-hour project will be done using fast-paced, graphic novel-style dramatic reconstruction and historical analysis. It will look at the greatest battlefield mystery of the Middle Ages, when the Scottish force all but destroyed the largest and most powerful feudal army ever assembled.

The docudrama will air in the U.K. in 2014, marking the 700th anniversary of the battle in the First War of Scottish Independence.

Rachel Job, the head of acquisitions and commissions for A+E Networks UK, said, “Bannockburn is an ambitious and enthralling docudrama and I am delighted that this original commission will premiere on HISTORY in the U.K.”

Danny Tipping, the head of programming and development at Sky Vision, added, “The graphic novel style of this documentary will bring it alive in a way not previously seen to give the viewer a more visual perspective on this famous clash between Scotland and England.”
