Sky Italia Launches Dedicated Arts Channel

ROME: Sky Italia has set the launch date for its Sky Arte HD channel, which is dedicated exclusively to art, for November 1. 

Sky Arte HD will be the first channel in Italy dedicated 100 percent to arts, covering painting, sculpture, architecture, literature, music, theater and design, photography and ancient and contemporary forms of art. The channel will launch on November 1 with Michelangelo, il cuore e la pietra, a docu-drama that spotlights the life of Michelangelo and his work on the Sistine Chapel. The program will be accompanied by a 3D documentary on the Sistine Chapel that will air on Sky 3D. Another original program is the Street Art Contest, which shows the challenge of street artists in creating pieces of art on the theme "art in power." Sky Arte will present both original Sky Italia productions and progams from such international channels as Sky Arts, the BBC, Channel 4, PBS and others.
