12 Yard to Produce Game Show Pilot for BBC One

LONDON: BBC One has ordered a pilot for Mrs. Brown’s Celebrities, a Saturday night game show, from ITV studios’ 12 Yard Productions.

Mrs. Brown’s Celebrities will have contestants compete in a quiz with assistance from various celebrities. The show will be hosted by comedian Brendan O’Carroll, who will portray Mrs. Brown, a character from Mrs. Brown’s Boys, a comedy starring O’Carroll.

The 40-minute non-broadcast pilot produced by 12 Yard could potentially lead to the production of a full series next year.

Andy Culpin, the managing director of 12 Yard Productions, commented: "We are so excited to be working with Brendan on this fantastic new program and can’t wait to unleash Mrs. Brown on our unsuspecting celebrities and contestants. Mrs. Brown’s unique take on life is sure to provide an entertaining and unpredictable show that will appeal to old and new fans alike."

"Mrs. Brown is one of the crown jewels of BBC Comedy," said Alan Tyler, the executive editor of entertainment commissioning for the BBC. "We are delighted that she is welcoming some famous faces into the family, and we are equally thrilled that she is continuing to make herself at home on BBC One."

O’Carroll added: "It will be fun to see how Mrs. Brown copes with a quiz as she knows as much about trivia as my backside knows about snipe shooting! A new adventure, and Mrs. Brown is always up for a new adventure! It’s great to be part of the BBC One family."
