Shakeup at the Top for Shine Group

LONDON: Shine Group is restructuring its senior management team, as the co-managing directors of Shine TV, Jamie Munro and Karen Smith, exit the company.

The restructure sees the chief executives of Princess Productions and Kudos, Henrietta Conrad and Jane Featherstone, assuming joint responsibility for the U.K. as joint chairmen. Both also retain their current roles. The U.K.-based Dragonfly will report to Featherstone, who will continue to oversee comedy and drama labels Brown Eyed Boy and Lovely Day. Shine TV will report to Conrad, who also becomes its chief executive.

The reorganization will see Shine TV strengthen its focus on factual, factual entertainment and features genres. Kelly Webb-Lamb moves from Princess to become creative director at Shine TV. All current factual, factual entertainment and features series at Princess will move under the Shine TV label. Princess Productions will increase its focus on entertainment, comedy entertainment and daytime output. Duncan Gray stays in the role of creative director and both new and current entertainment series at Shine TV come under the Princess banner. Both companies will collaborate closely on developments that cross genres.

Elisabeth Murdoch, Shine Group’s CEO and Chairman, said: “This re-structure promotes centers of excellence, provides clarity for our partners, and increased opportunities for the production teams. Shine is a collection of companies that believe passionately that we are better when working closer together. This new structure allows us to live by this principle. Jane and Hen bring exceptional talent and experience to all of our U.K. companies, and their leadership of the U.K. will be of great benefit to the entire Shine Group. I’d like to thank Karen and Jamie for their incredible work at Shine TV in their five years at the helm. They have achieved a great deal together but while it is sad to see colleagues depart, I respect their decision to leave at this fork in the road. They leave with our thanks and best wishes for what I know will be bright futures for them both.”
