MIPTV Organizers Express Support for Ukraine

The organizers of MIPTV say they will follow all local government sanctions and policies against Russia amid the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

“RX strongly condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” the event organizer said in a statement today. “RX stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, particularly with our employees around the world who have family and friends in the Ukraine. We also stand in solidarity with our Russian employees working in challenging conditions. In a rapidly changing environment, RX is following government sanctions and policies in each territory where we operate.”

As such, any Russian attendance at MIPTV, taking place April 4 to 6 in Cannes, is unlikely. Series Mania this week banned Roskino, the Russian state body that represents the audiovisual content industry at events worldwide, from participating in this month’s event. Meanwhile, U.K. producers body Pact has removed all Russian production and business information from its website and is calling on its members to suspend all cooperation and trade with Russia for the time being.
