Warner Bros. Discovery Outlines Team for Germany, Switzerland & Austria

Warner Bros. Discovery has put in place the team of managers who will run operations in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, while Alberto Horta exits the group.

Horta, VP of commercial development and deputy managing director of Discovery Communications Deutschland and head of Tele 5, is leaving the broadcast group. He said, “In the always exciting past 15 years, I have been able to implement numerous projects relevant to the company and build many long-term strategic partnerships at local and international level. Following the completion of Tele 5’s realignment and the successful launch of the discovery+ streaming service, I will now leave the company to pursue new professional challenges.”

Hannes Heyelmann, general manager of Warner Bros. Discovery for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, said, “During his many years of service, Alberto Horta has made a significant contribution to the extensive growth and successful strategic development of the Discovery business, particularly in the DACH region. With Alberto Horta, an experienced executive leaves our company who is not only highly respected throughout the industry, but who has also been committed to diversity and the development of young talent. We thank Alberto Horta for all he has done and wish him all the best, both personally and professionally.”

Separately, Heyelmann has unveiled the new management team of Warner Bros. Discovery GSA. “In the past few weeks, I have worked on the future strategy for Warner Bros. Discovery in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and also set the management of the management team for our region,” said Heyelmann. “I spoke to many managers from Discovery and WarnerMedia and was able to get an insight into the numerous projects, diverse processes, tasks and work processes. The commitment, the creativity and professionalism of our managers and teams impressed me again and again.”

Matthias Heinze is responsible for distribution and partnerships, which includes content, affiliate and digital sales as well as consumer products, games and franchise management.

Marion Rathmann will be responsible for the programming of all free-to-air and pay entertainment channels and streaming offers as well as local non-scripted productions for the free-TV channels and discovery+.

Susanne Reiter will handle marketing and local creative services of all free and pay entertainment channels as well as streaming in close cooperation with the EMEA streaming marketing team. In addition, she will have management of all insights and research activities.

Steffen Schier is responsible for movie distribution.

Markus Spangler is leading the areas of ad sales and media planning.

Daniela Allgayer-Koreimann is heading up communications and events.

Magdalena Prosteder will be responsible for local cinema productions.

Anke Greifeder is now responsible for original production for the Warner TV broadcaster and HBO Max.
