France TV Distribution has announced the launch of several new programs ahead of next month’s MIPDoc and MIPTV 2021 digital events.

Among the drama titles on its slate is Girlsquad, a teen thriller series produced by Kelija Productions (Kabo Productions). The day after 14-year-old Anaïs leaves a beach party without warning, she’s found by the roadside, fighting for her life. Meanwhile, a drowning girl is rescued by a group of friends that goes by the name Girlsquad and is taken to their HQ, known as The Doll’s House. The sudden arrival of this mysterious young woman on the very morning after Anaïs’ accident seems suspicious to both the Girlsquad members and Anaïs’ two older brothers.

Rounding out the dramas are Happy Tribes, produced by Elephant Story and broadcasted on France 2; and Criminal Games—The ’70s, produced by Escazal Films and broadcasted on France 2. In the former, overwhelmed parents grapple with the generation gap, the rebelling teenagers and the squabbling kids; while in the latter, the French government decides to conduct an experiment in 1972, giving a woman the job of police chief.

In factual content, there’s France, A Journey Through Time, produced by Les Bons Clients. The production shows how the wonders of modern France are rooted in its past. The Lady Sapiens, produced by Little Big Story and broadcasted on France 5, explores the women of prehistory, what role they played in their societies and families. The two-parter Apocalypse, Hitler Takes on the East 1941-1943, produced by CC&C and Mediawan and broadcasted on France 2, revisits June 22, 1941, when Hitler launched a surprise attack on the then USSR in an operation code-named “Barbarossa.”

Animated titles include Ana Pumpkin, produced by Folimage/Les Armateurs. It introduces viewers to the world of a 5-year-old girl and her everyday adventures. Currently in development and produced by Mondo TV, Disco Dragon centers on Disco and Betty, a funny musical duo who have decided their mission in life is to help every child find their groove.
