The Walt Disney Company EMEA has appointed former BBC executive Liam Keelan to serve as the VP of original productions for television in Europe and Africa.

Starting March 2, Keelan will lead a team of development and production executives in the U.K. and across the region to deliver TV originals for The Walt Disney Company. Keelan, based in London, will report into Diego Londono, executive VP of media networks and content.

Previously, Keelan spent six years as director of scripted content at BBC Worldwide, leading the team responsible for securing and developing drama, comedy and children’s content from BBC Television, the U.K. and overseas indies. He also spent time as global editorial director at the company. Prior to his tenure at BBC Worldwide, Keelan was controller for BBC Daytime and Early Peak from February 2008. Before joining the BBC, Keelan held positions at ITV and UKTV. Since leaving the BBC in 2019, he has served as a media consultant for Amazon Studios and a number of independent production companies.
