Palatin Media has clinched a deal with Mediawan for the sci-fi event series Spides and the doc series Evolution of Driving.

The agreement provides Mediawan with all rights for Spides within French-speaking territories after the first window on pay TV on Universal. Set in modern-day Berlin, Spides follows Nora, a young woman who wakes from a coma without any memory of her previous life after taking a mysterious drug. Local police detective David Leonhart and his partner Nique Navar are hunting down that drug in relation to dozens of missing teens.

Palatin Media CEO Bernd Schlötterer said: “We couldn’t have found a better partner in France for Spides than Mediawan to insure the best possible exploitation.”

Mediawan Thematics’ managing director, Richard Maroko, added: “Considering the strong appetite for sci-fi genre in French-speaking territories, Spides will reinforce our catalog and bring an european touch to the genre.”

Mediawan also acquired the French-speaking and Turkish rights for the event car documentary series Evolution of Driving, also produced by Palatin Media.
