MTV has been named an official media partner for the European Development Days (EDD), an annual forum that highlights Europe’s commitment to building a fair and sustainable world.

This year’s event—under the theme “Addressing Inequalities: Building a world which leaves no one behind”—takes place today and tomorrow, June 18 and 19, in Brussels. The EDD 2019 will examine and discuss the goals of the 2030 Agenda and the EU’s commitment to addressing inequalities. In line with the theme, a strong focus will be placed on the 15 Young Leaders, selected by the European Commission to share their vision of how to address inequalities.

MTV has planned a series of activities that involve the brand’s channels in Africa and Germany, focusing on social media and digital platforms in particular, as well as MTV VJs Ulrike Brase from Germany and Lasizwe Dambuza from South Africa, who will be the official MTV reporters at the forum.

“The MTV brand has always actively supported young people in raising their voices: engaging with the world challenges facing youth is part of our promise to our young audience,” said Raffaele Annecchino, president of VIMN Southern & Western Europe, Middle East & Africa and digital mobile strategy for Viacom International Media Networks. “We are glad to partner with the European Commission on this project where we can contribute in giving voice to youth leaders at an open, collaborative and inclusive platform like the EDD.”
