Nick Thexton has been hired by ProSiebenSat.1 Group to fill the company’s newly created chief technology officer position.

In the role, Thexton will manage all business functions on the ProSiebenSat.1 Group level that support its ongoing transformation into a technology- and data-led company. He will be charged with more efficiently connecting components such as data management, technology solutions and digital business models to accelerate digital growth. He also will be part of ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s extended executive board. Thexton is expected to assume his new post in June of this year and report to Max Conze, chairman of the executive board.

Thexton, who has spent more than 30 years as a developer and manager in the international entertainment and telecommunications industries, will join ProSiebenSat.1 from mobile service company Inmarsat, where he’s served as the chief digital and product officer. He’s also previously worked at YouView TV and Channel 4 in the U.K., and Cisco.

Conze said: “Now more than ever before, success in the entertainment business is based on continuous technological progress. Therefore, we are delighted that a true technology innovator such as Nick Thexton is joining us to support ProSiebenSat.1 and take us to the next level.”

Thexton added: “With its diversified business, ProSiebenSat.1 has a wide range of technological components. I am looking forward to bringing in new ideas and developing the technological ecosystem of ProSiebenSat.1, together with my new teams.”
