Channel 5 is planning to launch in the new year 5PRIME, a premium network dedicated to high-quality factual series, documentaries and dramas.

5PRIME will feature first-run originals alongside programming from Channel 5 and spin-offs of its most popular programs. The launch slate includes factual shows like Ben Fogle: New Lives in The Wild and GPs: Behind Closed Doors, the spin-off original series The Yorkshire Vet Casebook and brand-new commissions like The Secret Life of Owls. 5Prime will also broadcast the hit RTE show Striking Out. The channel will additionally boast themed program collections, including Secrets of the Past, Prime Drama and Famous Faces, Amazing Places.

5Prime will replace the My5 TV channel across all broadcast platforms. My5 will continue as Channel 5’s catch-up and box-set service across all major on-demand platforms and devices.

Channel Manager of 5PRIME James Brown said: “As the home of Channel 5’s critically acclaimed premium content, 5PRIME is a welcome and complementary addition to the Channel 5 family of channels. Viewers can enjoy appointment-to-view programs and special themed evenings ranging from history to natural history, drama to documentary.”
