Marcus Wolter, the CEO of Endemol Shine Germany and chairman for Northern Europe, is resigning at the end of January 2018 after nearly a decade with the company.

Wolter became managing director of Endemol Germany in October 2008 and CEO of Endemol Shine Germany in 2015. He was appointed chairman for Northern Europe last year.

When Wolter officially departs the company, Boudewijn Beusmans will become chairman for Northern Europe, in addition to his current position as joint CEO of Endemol Shine Netherlands. On an interim basis until a full-time replacement is found, the local business will be led by Ute März (CFO), Gabi Abegg (head of strategic development) and Rainer Laux (director of reality and docu).

Sophie Turner Laing, the CEO of Endemol Shine Group, commented: “I want to pay a wholehearted tribute to Marcus for his outstanding leadership of Endemol Shine Germany and the support he has given to our businesses across Northern Europe. When he leaves us next year, he will do so with our sincere thanks for the contribution he has made to our group. Going forward, we couldn’t hope for anyone more capable and experienced than Boudewijn to chair Northern Europe, and Endemol Shine Germany will be in exceptionally good hands under Ute’s, Gabi’s and Rainer’s leadership while we put a full-time successor to Marcus in place.”

Wolter added: “Over my nine years here, I’ve had the privilege of working with the best in the business and the creative energy, entrepreneurialism and sense of fun has been an inspiration throughout. The team I’ll be leaving behind at Endemol Shine Germany are truly world-class, and with the business firmly established as number one in the marketplace, I feel ready to take on my next challenge. It’s been an incredible ride and I want to say a big thank you to Sophie and all my friends and colleagues around the world.”
