LONDON: Tilusha Ghelani, previously assistant comedy commissioner at the BBC, is joining Sky Comedy as its new commissioning editor.

When she takes on her new role in August, Ghelani will be charged with commissioning and executive producing comedy titles. She will work on established brands such as Stella, Trollied and Rovers, operating across Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts and On Demand.

Prior to joining Sky, Ghelani was assistant comedy commissioner at the BBC, where she commissioned and oversaw scripted comedy created by in-house and indie production companies and worked across several BBC channels. Before that, she served as a comedy producer for 12 years, working on more than 150 shows, including Paul Whitehouse’s Nurse and Just a Minute.

Ghelani said: “I’ve always been passionate about comedy so I’m thrilled to be joining Sky’s comedy commissioning team. Sky has a great reputation for comedy. I’m looking forward to making my mark with excellent new shows whilst achieving Sky’s ambition to provide outstanding content for viewers.”

Jon Mountague, Sky’s head of comedy commissioning, commented, “It is great that Sky can attract top talent such as Tilusha. We’re committed to providing customers with the very best in British comedy alongside our laugh-out-loud U.S. shows like Modern Family and Silicon Valley. I’m sure Tilusha will help us cement our place as the home of the very best comedy available anywhere.”
