WARSAW: Kino Polska TV is planning to take a 49-percent stake of Cable Television Network & Partners (CTNP), which is set to launch a new DTT news channel in Poland.

SPI International's Polish media company Kino Polska TV says it will spend PLN 10 million ($2.5 billion) for an interest in Cable Television Network & Partners, subject to it receiving final approval for the launch of ZoomTV on DTT. The news channel is being developed as a joint project of the PIKSEL Foundation and Kino Polska TV, with Grupa Onet.pl as a content-providing partner. PIKSEL Foundation is currently the sole shareholder in CTNP.

ZoomTV will broadcast news and other programming concerning local and regional issues. PIKSEL's parent company, PIKE, the Polish Chamber for Electronic Communication, will deliver local news and policy content. Kino Polska will be responsible for broadcasting and production, and for delivering other types of programming. There will also be video coverage and other content provided by the editorial team at Onet.pl.
