MUNICH: ProSiebenSat.1 and Disney Germany, Switzerland and Austria have signed a long-term master license agreement, which includes movies and series from Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel and ABC Studios.

The broadcasting rights are for ProSiebenSat.1 free-TV channels in Germany. The deal also includes, for the first time, exclusive rights for ProSiebenSat.1's entire offering. In addition to free-TV licenses, the pact covers selected pay-TV and SVOD rights for platforms such as maxdome.

The deal includes Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, Walt Disney Pictures' live action and CGI The Jungle Book and the Disney Pixar Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory, as well as future Star Wars movies from Lucasfilm. The agreement adds to ProSiebenSat.1 Group's range of series programming, including ABC Studios shows such as the crime drama Quantico, the medical drama Code Black and the spin-off of Criminal Minds, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. The pact also gives ProSiebenSat.1 access to the extensive Disney library, which boasts feature films such as Frozen and Disney Pixar's Monsters, Inc.

Rüdiger Böss, the executive VP of group programming acquisitions at ProSiebenSat.1 Media, said: "Our audience will love the series and feature films from Disney. Thanks to the new agreement, we can continue to offer the best Hollywood entertainment with great content. In addition, our viewers will enjoy selected series that can only be seen with us—and not just on free TV, but across all platforms. The deal with one of the world's largest media corporations is an important strategic step and strengthens our competitive position for the long term."

Bernhard Glöggler, the general manager for Disney Media Distribution at The Walt Disney Company GSA, commented: "We're delighted with the new agreement with ProSiebenSat.1 which further builds on our collaboration with one of Germany's most successful TV groups, who we've enjoyed a successful relationship with for many years. This deal will also allow a broad range of programming to be enjoyed whenever, wherever and however viewers wish, featuring our much-loved characters and stories."

Robert Langer, country manager for The Walt Disney Company GSA, added: "We are thrilled that this agreement will create many opportunities for both parties to deliver stand out marketing campaigns which will bring the content to life and are set to excite new and current fans alike."
