CANNES: Turkey is this year’s Country of Honour at MIPCOM, and Eccho Rights is on hand with a selection of Turkish dramas.

Gönül is a brand-new series on Star TV in Turkey. It comes from Most Productions, the original producer of Sila. Eccho Rights bills it as "a story about family ties, love and revenge." It focuses on a nurse who falls in love with a brain surgeon.

From Ay Yapim, Eccho Rights is presenting Karadayi is the story of Mahir, who becomes head of the family when his father is wrongly convicted of murder. Fredrik af Malmborg, the managing director at Eccho Rights, also believes that Nurses, which follows the personal and professional lives of four female colleagues working in a trauma ward, will be of strong interest to buyers.

“We were delighted to see that Turkey has been selected as the Country of Honour for 2015, especially since we have been championing Turkish drama for many years,” af Malmborg says.

The company is also offering formats such as Crack Them Up, in which regular people are challenged to make comedians laugh so they can win a cash prize. The fun continues as celebrities and amateurs take on world-class professional athletes and try to beat them at their own sports in Beat the Champions. Eccho Rights is also presenting the animal talent show EEI-EEI-OH!, which sees pets and their owners perform before a jury and a studio audience.

“Eccho Rights is the home of fresh, original ideas that can come from anywhere; we love shows that make people happy,” says af Malmborg. “These shows have a warm, friendly tone that has a strong appeal for family audiences. In times when there is a lot of worrying about economic and political situations, these shows are the remedy!”
