LONDON: UKTV’s comedy channel Gold is set to debut sometime this year Legends of Stand-Up & Bernard Righton, a six-part series celebrating the world’s greatest comedians.

Performer John Thomson will host the show as his alter ego, club comedian Bernard Righton. Archive footage will be used to highlight routines by some of the biggest names in comedy, among them Joan Rivers, Tommy Cooper, Jim Carrey and Woody Allen. North One Television is producing the title for Gold.

Commissioning Editor Iain Coyle commented: “This is the perfect format, the very best of classic stand-up, hosted by one of my favorite ever comedy creations. I’ve genuinely been crying laughing in the meetings for this show; I might have to be restrained when I watch it on the telly.”
