LONDON: DRG has upped Noel Hedges, formerly the company’s head of acquisitions, to the newly created role of executive VP of content.

The post, effective immediately, will see Hedges charged with driving DRG’s content strategy across the entire company. He will also be responsible for negotiating and securing key acquisitions and long-term development deals across all genres. Additionally, Hedges will manage a team of genre specialists looking for content from top producers in the industry and will also manage the distribution of funds from financial backer Modern Times Group (MTG) to support content acquisitions across a wide range of genres.

“Following investment from MTG last year, DRG are in a very strong position to continue to grow their unique offering as an expert distributor of world-class content across factual, fiction and formats,” said Richard Halliwell, the COO at DRG. “Noel has been instrumental in ensuring we have incredible content to offer broadcasters and has established strong relationships with some of the best creative talent from around the world. In his new role he will continue to ensure we have a rich variety of engaging and entertaining content for international distribution.”

Hedges added: “I am delighted to have been promoted to EVP of content at DRG. The newly created post will allow me to take a much more strategic approach of content acquisition across our entire portfolio. We have continued to invest in some groundbreaking content and I am looking forward to working with content producers to ensure that we not only work with the best, but are able to represent their valuable projects around the world.”
