LONDON: Endemol has entered into an exclusive first-look development and distribution pact with the U.K. producer Amber Television, a move which sees the two jointly developing and financing a new slate of scripted projects.

Under the terms of the three-year deal, Endemol will provide development funding and deficit funding to Amber Television for select projects. In return, Endemol will get the exclusive first-look distribution rights on Amber's output.

Founded in 2009, Amber Television is led by Ileen Maisel and Lawrence Elman, both of whom have extensive experience in the film industry. The company is focused on the acquisition of IP rights of literary works, producing feature films, docs, TV series and digital content. Recent projects include Romeo and Juliet, adapted by Julian Fellowes.

Cathy Payne, the CEO of Endemol Worldwide Distribution (EWD), commented: “EWD are delighted to be working with Amber. We look forward to announcing our first project together as part of this partnership.”

Amber's Maisel and Elman added: “The opportunity to work with the Endemol team gives us access to the best television talent in the world. To be brought into the Endemol family fold gives our vast content access to multi-platforms with the strongest company in the business in the evolving world of television.”
