LONDON: The BBC has placed a multi-series order for the game show Pointless, greenlighting 38 episodes of Pointless Celebrities for BBC One and 110 episodes of Pointless for BBC Daytime.

The commission takes the total number of episodes up to nearly 1,000. Remarkable Television, an Endemol company, will produce the new batch of 148 episodes. Alexander Armstrong will continue to host along with Richard Osman, who provides obscure facts and figures.

Damian Kavanagh, controller of BBC Daytime, and Pam Cavannagh, commissioning editor, ordered the series. James Fox, Michelle Woods, Richard Hague and Dom Waugh exec produce for Remarkable Television, as well as Cavannagh for the BBC.

“As we head towards our 1,000th episode, Pointless continues to go from strength to strength,” said Fox, who is also the creative director at Remarkable Games. “This is testament to the brilliance of Xander and Richard, our hard-working production team and our fantastically loyal viewers. We can’t wait to bring them even more Pointless facts and fun in 2015 and beyond.”

Cavannagh added: “Our audience loves spending time with Xander and Richard and there is no sign of the appetite for the show waning.”
