NEW YORK: Mike Moriarty, currently the managing director of AMC Networks’ Central Europe operations and digital media facility DMC, will now also oversee AMC Networks International – Zone, the company has announced.

Moriarty’s expanded remit takes over the role occupied by Dermot Shortt, formerly head of AMC Networks International – Zone, who has stepped down and will continue to work with the company as a consultant. Moriarty will be based in London and will continue to report to Ed Carroll, AMC Networks’ COO.

The exec has been managing director of the company’s Central Europe operations since 2006, adding responsibility for the DMC in 2012. Before joining Chellomedia, which was renamed AMC Networks International earlier this year, Moriarty spent more than a decade at UPC.

“These management changes come as we further integrate and expand our international operations,” Carroll said. “Dermot has made a great contribution to the growth of Zone over the past 13 years and we are pleased we will continue to benefit from his expertise and industry experience in a consulting capacity. Mike’s strong track record in programming and operations will bring continued strong leadership for our networks throughout Europe.”
