LONDON: BBC has ordered 40 additional episodes of the quiz show The Link from STV Productions and LTV Productions for broadcast during BBC One's daytime lineup.

Hosted by actor Mark Williams (Father Brown, Blandings), The Link watches as three teams scramble to find the link between questions for a cash prize. The first season, which debuted in May 2014, ranked as the number one program daily in the BBC One time slot. The format is being sold globally by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

Gary Chippington, the head of entertainment for STV Productions, said: "The first series of The Link proved to be a ratings hit and we are thrilled to secure a commission for another 40 episodes. We look forward to bringing the BBC One daytime audience new episodes of this engaging quiz show later this year."

PJ Johnson, executive producer for LTV Productions, added: "We hope the second series for The Link will build and further expand our loyal BBC One audience in the U.K.; while further creating more excitement with all our Warner Bros. International TV Distribution broadcast partners as well."
