LONDON: Caroline Torrance, previously the director of scripted, content and production at BBC Worldwide, is joining Zodiak Rights as its new head of international scripted.

During her time at BBC Worldwide, Torrance was responsible for global content and acquisition strategy, including for both BBC in-house and independent productions. She also held similar roles at Endemol and Granada.

Torrance said: "I am thrilled to be joining Zodiak, and I look forward to working with the talented sales teams in Paris and London and the fantastic independent production houses around the world."

Matthew Frank, the CEO of Zodiak Rights, said: "We’ve been looking to hire a heavy hitter in the scripted area for some time now and in Caroline I believe we have found that person. We are very excited to have her on board. The recent success of The Returned, an outstanding original series with a French twist, and upcoming projects like Occupied are paving the way for broadcasters who look to us for more exciting European drama. I am confident that Caroline will help us to accelerate our ambitions in this area."

Marc-Antoine d’Halluin, CEO of Zodiak Media, added: "We are extremely happy that Caroline is joining us with her vast experience and knowledge. I know she will be a huge asset to the group and our international co-pro efforts around the globe, which will play a critical part in our growth strategy. In this respect, we are looking for growth to come first from our in-house production houses, but also from talented independent third party partners who can benefit from the support that the Zodiak Media group can provide, both in packaging co-productions from the outset and accessing our leading distribution network to maximize the exploitation of the best ideas."
